Film is more than
people think. My love for film comes from the creative freedom you have with it
and the many possibilities you can do with it. I’m particular in love with
cinematographers that make videos for themselves. Most of the cinematographers
use DSLRS to film which makes it easier for me to replicate this. These
independent cinematographers use creative way to project emotions and scenes in
their film. Often this is made without paid actors or an entire Hollywood
production team. People involved in this project are usually people who started
filming in their teens and have a great passion for it. The editor’s, directors,
camera men and special effects people are usually not professional yet but they
have creative minds and want to use it. There are many kinds of films made by
people like this. Music videos, documentaries, short films, movies. My biggest
inspiration is an old friend of mine, Rickard Bengtsson. He makes creative
videos with his girlfriend where he films directs and edits the video. One
example is a video he made a month ago called “Enchanted Forrest” in this video he captures the beautiful autumn light in a beautiful brown/green
forest for this video he used no camera stabilizers, everything was filmed
handheld. This inspired me to try this out for myself but of Corse I couldn't get the same results as he did. Another example of a great cinematographer is Claudiu voicu is a man who made a short film called “Storm Origins”. This film is about 3 free
runners that are fighting for a job. What I particularly like about this film
is the cinematographer was making this without any safety precautions and the
stable follow shots. I would like to make a video like this if I could. My
dream is ultimately to be making independent films, meaning without a movie
studio. There is always something new you can make with cinematography if you
have the skills for film you can easily get recognized. In this new media era
cinematography is an , as some say “hard” profession since illegal internet
downloading has cut back the revenue of the film industry, because of this in
some years’ time the studios will be going for cheaper directors.
